Public Works Camp Fall 2012 Live Event

Join Us in Naperville for the Fall 2012 Public Works Camp!

  • September 12th, 2012

This Fall,  the Fox Valley Branch is teaming up with the Suburban Branch for the next Public Works Camp. And this time, the generous folks at the city of Naperville, Ill., have offered to host the camp!  We're also incorporating another "speed networking" session – if you missed out last time on this at our last camp, you won't want to miss it again. We found this to be an amazing way to meet others in our field and share information. Here's some feedback on the networking session from the Spring 2012 Camp:

"It was good to hear what other municipalities are dealing with."

"Lays the foundation for the rest of the day."

"I learned a lot of new things. I think all the chapters should do this."

So whether you're a veteran camper or new to the public works camp experience, you'll definitely want to be at the Fall 2012 Public Works Camp on September 28th at the Naperville Municipal Center, Meeting Rooms B&C, 400 South Eagle Street, Naperville, IL 60540. Registration/sign-in starts at 8 am and the cost is $45. Just click here to register for the camp:

Remember, in the spirit of a traditional unconference, we don't have a set agenda for the day. But as all of us in public works know, there's never a lack of issues to discuss. And, the more people we have, the more experience and information we have to share! (And as we found out at past camps, it's especially beneficial to bring along a wastewater person or someone who has worked at IDOT!).

The registrations are already filling our inbox so make sure you sign up and get your spot saved. And between now and Feb 10th, head on over to our uservoice site and post some discussion ideas or vote for the ones already hanging out there.

Join us March 18th for Public Works Camp

  • February 24th, 2011

The Fox Valley Branch of the Chicago Chapter of APWA has been delivering quality education for public works professionals in the Fox Valley area for some time. And the education committee is continuing to develop even more interesting topics and formats through which we can all ramp up our knowledge.

So we ask that you consider joining us for an interactive and newer style workshop designed to provide a unique learning experience.  This is not your typical seminar as this will provide an opportunity for every attendee to discuss, and if interested, even lead a topic of their choosing.  Participants will be able to tailor their day choosing from a variety of topics with possible subject areas covering CCDD, stormwater, water/wastewater, municipal policies, ADA, transportation, GIS/CAD, doing more with less, grants, etc.

Do you have ideas for other topics you would like to hear more about?  Maybe you would like to share your knowledge regarding a topic you feel would draw the interest of your colleagues?  Well, that is exactly why we set up this site at http://publicworkscamp.uservoice.com. Feel free to post new topics, ideas, or suggestions on that site or if you'd rather not, go ahead and add them in the comment field. (To access the comment field, you have to click the title of this post and wait to be taken to it's page.)

And we'll see you at the camp on March 18th!
